Ali Lightbody MCSP, HCPC

Ali is currently working as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) at First Community, which is linked with East Surrey Hospital. She was an APP (spinal and lower limb) at NHS hospital Guys and St Thomas’ prior to moving with the NHS to East Surrey Hospital in 2010. She has over 20 years' of experience assessing and treating musculoskeletal conditions since she qualified from the University of the West of England.​Working as an APP she has a close working relationship with the Orthopaedic Consultants. As one of the clinical leads in Physiotherapy she often sees the highly complex cases and identifies when a patient will do well with Physiotherapy rehabilitation or needs referring on to secondary care.​ She gained insight into developing others following lecturing on the King’s College London University Undergraduate Physiotherapy programme. She provides training and specialist advice to the Physiotherapy Team and other medical colleagues.​ Ali enjoys treating all sport injuries and has a particular interest in Spinal conditions. In particular, back or neck pain with/without radiating symptoms. She has completed an extensive number of post graduate training and masters courses to aid her assessment and treatment, including medical imaging, Musculoskeletal Triage and Pilates. Her work in the NHS has ensured that she provides a holistic evidence based approach to all patients in order to help them achieve their goals.

Helen Hingston MCSP, HCPC, MMACP, PGDip

Helen graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist from the University of Birmingham in 2000. She subsequently worked at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Helen gained extensive private practice experience in London and abroad in New Zealand, treating a wide range of acute sporting and chronic injuries. Helen spent 13 years at St George’s Hospital where she worked as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) alongside Orthopaedic Consultants. She is currently still working in the NHS for First Community as an APP and has a specialist interest in the Upper Limb working closely with Orthopaedic Consultants at East Surrey and North Downs Hospital. Helen provides a supervisory / teaching role to the musculoskeletal team.​ She is passionate about the role that physiotherapy plays in helping people achieve their physical goals; whether they be returning to high level sport or simply managing their day at work. Helen’s experience to date helps to ensure that holistic evidenced-based care is provided at the right time for patients.​ Helen obtained her Post graduate Diploma in 2012 from The University of Hertfordshire. She holds membership to Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and British Elbow and Shoulder Society, with training in pilates.
